Backyard makeover: turf, pavers and planting in Fort Lauderdale
An overgrown Fort Lauderdale backyard, bare dirt paths and all, rebuilt as an outdoor room: artificial turf, paver walkways and a circular paver patio, white rock beds, a fountain feature, new planting and the existing palms kept and cleaned up.
Built for David, Fort Lauderdale

The yard had good bones: mature palms, a big shade tree and a covered patio. Everything in between had gone to dirt, roots and self-seeded growth, and the brick paths had sunk. The homeowner wanted a yard that looks finished in every season without constant mowing and watering.
We cleared and graded the whole lot, kept the palms and the shade tree, and laid a compacted base for the hardscape. Paver walkways now link the patio, the side yard and the shed, with a circular paver seating area in the middle of the lawn. Artificial turf went down over a geotextile layer, edged with white river rock beds and new planting, plus a tiered fountain as the focal point by the patio.
The after photos were taken once the planting had settled in. The yard reads as one continuous space from the patio to the back fence, and it stays that way without a mower.
